Operation 135
Written by: Aidan Jonah
Introducing Operation 135, The Canada Files’ campaign to go from 65 to 200 consistent financial supporters.
It’s been nearly four years of groundbreaking investigations, insightful analysis and critical event coverage about Canadian foreign policy, from The Canada Files. While other media outlets hide in the moment, self-censoring as the world goes by, TCF has given numerous contributors the space to speak their mind, backed up by evidence, and speak against Canadian imperialism. Meanwhile, we’ve added Camila Escalante, editor of Kawsachun News, as host of TCF’s Speaker Series.
TCF’s investigation record in the last year alone includes, among others:
Revealing how the Canadian consulate in Hong Kong retaliated against a Canadian expat for writing against Canadian PM Trudeau and doing ground level reports on the 2019 Hong Kong riots, by refusing to renew her passport, leaving her to survive in a stateless persons’ camp.
Revealing how the Canadian government and opposition MPs willingly allow CIA-front funded organizations to shape parliamentary subcommittee reports, reports which have previously led to parliament votes
Revealing how the Canadian government funded an ‘aid’ program in Ukraine which worked to set the table for a privatization campaign, starting two years before the Maidan coup. While also revealing how after the coup, Canada provided nearly $20 million CAD to a project assisting the implementation of a site facilitating the selling of government and communal farming lands.
Revealing how a university student in the middle of a Canadian defence ministry grant led the campaign to smear University of Montreal professor Michael J. Carley as a Russian propagandist, for speaking out about Nazis in Ukraine, nearly getting Carley fired.
Exposing how Nazigate is just one part of a 75+ year Canadian government policy to import anti-communists at every opportunity, to suppress the Canadian working class, and maintain the state’s colonialism and imperialism
Exposing a Canadian oil company’s extraction pump and dump scam in Namibia
Revealing how the CBC has repeatedly concealed the US government-funded position at VOA Persian held by Iranian regime change activist Masih Alinejad, when interviewing her.
Revealing how the Canadian government funded a Nazi propaganda bus tour (which TCF’s Editor-in-Chief personally was subjected to in 2019), that sought out an arsonist ex-Ukrainian government minister for an appearance
Revealing how the Canadian government pressured the ‘independent’ regulator, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, to fast-track a broadcasting ban on RT
The Canada Files has achieved much in its near-four years of existence, but needs more consistent financial supporters, to help our aim of becoming a sustainable journalism institution and continue doing critical journalism. When Canadian parliament is honouring Nazis, and the broader West is using Nazis and jihadists to attack their opposition, critical journalism opposing Canadian imperialism is more needed than ever.

Aidan Jonah is the Editor-in-Chief of The Canada Files, a socialist, anti-imperialist news outlet founded in 2019. Jonah has broken numerous stories, including how the Canadian Armed Forces trained neo-Nazi "journalist" Roman Protasevich while he was with the Azov Battalion, and how a CIA front group (the NED) funded the group (URAP) which drove the "Uyghur genocide" vote in parliament to pass in February 2021. Jonah recently wrote a report for the 48th session of the UN Human Rights Council, held in September 2021.
