CNN has been slammed by Twitter and mainstream media since the Jan. 14 debate between democratic presidential nominee candidates.

The hashtag #CNNisGarbage has been trending on Twitter since the conclusion of Tuesday’s debate.

The debate moderators were criticized by mainstream news organizations including The Hill and Rolling Stone.

The most controversial moment was when Bernie Sanders denied fellow candidate Elizabeth Warren’s claim that he said a women couldn’t beat Trump in the 2020 general election. In spite of this denial, CNN moderator Abby Philip proceeded to ask Warren, “What did you think when Sen. Sanders told you a woman could not win the election?”

The Hill’s Joe Concha released an article called “CNN moderator criticized for question to Sanders.”

Matt Taibi of Rolling Stone said “that ‘when’ was as transparent a media ‘fuck you’ as we’ve seen in a presidential debate.

These three captions were shown while one of Joe Biden or Elizabeth Warren was speaking during the debate. They sparked outrage on Twitter from Bernie Sanders supporters including Nina Turner, a former Ohio State Senator.

Supporters of other candidates also slammed CNN on Twitter for the network’s targeting of Sanders. Rich Lowry described the network’s handling of Elizabeth Warren’s sexism allegations against the Vermont Senator as “completely outrageous and wrong.”

The Next Debate

The next debate is scheduled on Feb. 7 in Manchester, New Hampshire. It will be hosted by ABC, WMUR-TV, and Apple News.

According to Vox, if the primary candidates hold their current qualifications, these six candidates are likely to qualify.
